Your Questions Answered

What is Fundraising for Schools?

This is a scheme specially designed to raise money for Schools. We send you bags to fill up with good quality used clothing, and in exchange, we send you a cheque based upon the total weight of the bags

How does Fundraising for Schools work?

You contact us and make a booking. We will then forward recycled plastic bags to you, each with an explanatory flyer to pass to each child. A collection time is organised (roughly 7 days later), allowing each child the opportunity to fill his or her bag.

How much does it cost to set up a collection?

Absolutely nothing! We provide all the bags and flyers for FREE and the collection process is also FREE.

What sort of things will you take in the bags?

We collect men’s, ladies’ and children’s clothes, bedding (the covers, not the quilts or pillows), curtains, bags and shoes.

We don’t have a very big school!

This isn’t a problem! We have found that some schools in the past have less than 100 pupils and they have become stumped by this. What we have suggested is to encourage all the staff to participate, and some schools have even involved their local area, instead of ordering 70 bags, they ordered 700!

What do we get out of it?

On average, most schools collect 10kg per pupil. TRCL pays on the weight collected. All weights are recorded on Trading Standards calibrated weigh bridges and are paid within 15 days from the date of collection at the current price.

Which areas do you cover?

TRCL covers a large proportion of England at present, contact a TRCL representative to find out more.

We don’t have any storage space!

This isn’t a problem. We can arrange a collection at 8.30am or 3.30pm. Our driver will wait for all the bags to be brought to the school and Put them straight into the vehicles, therefore storage is not a problem.

How often can we do a collection?

You can arrange as many collections as you like, the more collections you have, the more money you will raise. In our experience, we find that schools tend to have one collection per term, so that everyone can save up for the next collection.

How can we make the most of each fundraising project?

To ensure you gain the most out of each collection, when distributing the bags, remind the pupils/parents to fill each bag to its potential. Remember, the project is based on the weight of the bags, so the more they put in, the more money you will raise.

What licences do TRCL have to run this project?

TRCL has all the required licences; Waste Carriers Licence, Waste Carriers Exemption Licence and Waste Operators Licence.
